West Up. WestCoastRydaz has been privileged through the years to work with the best and brightest rising talent from the West. Back when we had no history with established artists or people checking for us, we hit the streets and worked with others grinding from the bottom up to make a name for themselves in this game and rep for California at the same time.
Through that mentality we’ve forged great relationships with a majority of today’s top Cali rap talent. It doesn’t stop with rappers either, as we’ve been able to work with singers, producers, DJ’s, radio personalities and many more. One of the radio personalities we’ve grown closest with is Devi Dev. Whether it was covering the online radio show Zombie Radio (watch some classics here) with her and the rest of the Zombie crew every week, or her days at 93.5 KDAY interning with The GoodFellas up to her time on the air at the station, we were able to watch her career rise to new heights.
She’s always showed love to as many artists as she could; from giving them interviews on Zombie Radio or going to their shows to later using her growing status to help them get radio spins and a bigger spotlight through the avenues available to her. Through the years she’s grown into a sought after and respected figure out here in the Los Angeles music scene, meeting a variety of her goals and building her brand. As her career has grown, so have her opportunities, which brings us to the purpose of this news update. She just recently accepted a position in Houston, Texas to work the mid-day shift on air at 97.9 The Box.
Although it saddens many of us in Cali to realize she’s leaving, it’s also great to see her continue to accomplish new things and take her talent to higher levels. In celebration of her new job opportunity and to send her off with some of the same love and support she’s shown others, our own retOne teamed up with the LA Leakers (of Power 106) for a going away party at BubbleGumLA this past Tuesday. The night included live performances by Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar alongside U-N-I for a very packed house. You can watch some exclusive footage of the night below, including portions of the performances.
In a fitting send off, a who’s who of the Cali music scene came out to support her, including Glasses Malone, Roccett, Crooked I, Mykestro, Lady G, Bad Lucc, Dem Jointz, Candice Pillay, Bangloose, Tara King, Kanary Diamonds, Topic, Terrace Martin, Dae One, Noni Spitz, Taje, Chuck Dizzle, SchoolboyQ, DJ EQUE, Krondon, Phil The Agony, Planet Asia, and many many more. You can see photos from the event here, courtesy of Boogie-B.
We wish Dev the best of luck and know she’ll do a great job in Houston. For more on her and to send her good wishes, you can follow her on her Twitter page @DeviDev.
